I just had a crazy idea...

Bear with me for a few moments here, but I just had what might be a really crazy idea.

Does anybody else have this awesome book:

And is anybody else having troubles getting started working through it? I can't be the only one, please tell me I'm not the only one!

I love pretty much all the bags in this book (some are a more...love for someone else, but not necessarily for me...type of feeling), and really want to work my way through it. So I was thinking it might be fun to have a sort of sew-along. There are twelve bags (yes, I know it says 26, but those are just size/strap variations, for the most part...don't get me started on that part), so we could work through one a month, starting in January. I realize that may be super slow for some of you, but I know most of us have lives outside of crafting too (GASP!), so it seems like a decent pace to not overwhelm & still give time for other projects as well.

So, tell me - am I crazy, or is this something any of you would be interested in doing? And if you know others who might be interested (or if you know somebody who's already doing this, and I'm WAY behind the times) feel free to send them over here. We're all friends. :)

Until next time...

  1. Bree, this is a good idea!! I have been eyeing the book but not sure if I wanted to take the plunge. It would be fun to do it that way.
1 a month seems pretty good. I think any faster than that and I'd go crazy. ;)
Let me know if you decide to give it a go!

  2. I have this book, love it, and am totally and completely intimidated by it!! LOL!! I think I would be up for a sew along for this! Maybe working on the projects together would make them less scary!

  3. That's a great idea! I don't have the book, but I've been wanting to get into bag sewing. If you do it, I might just pick up the book and join in. I probably wouldn't be able to do it every month, but I'd definitely be up for some of them.

  4. I just found your blog and would be very interested in a sew along with this book. I checked it out from the library and fell in love, but I am a beginner, and was completely intimidated. A sew a long would be exactly what I need!

  7. I don't own that book but I have had my eye on it and her In Stitches book. I'd be tempted to pick it up for myself if you were to do the sew along. Can't promise I'd get a chance to participate every month but I'd give it a shot!

  11. I'm interested. I have the book and like you have been slow to start any of the projects. After I make the bag and post pic to flicker, is there anything else to do? This is my first 'sew along'.

  12. This is a fantastic idea! I can't say I'm willing to make all 12 but i super appreciate the thoughts and tips for the ones I do want to make - especially as I'm finding this 5 months late and can browse through all the completed projects :)
