We interrupt this regularly scheduled program...

I was thinking about the Sew Along the other day, and was wondering something - would anybody be terribly heartbroken if we wait to finish up the last three bags after the first of the year? I know a lot of people got busy & couldn't participate over the summer, and I'm sure the coming months will be even busier! Many of you are starting your Christmas crafting & shopping already (personally I don't even want to think about it yet!), and unless you're planning on making one for a gift, you probably have other things to do with your time. Obviously you can still make the bags now & link up when we pick up again.

I'm thinking about waiting until January or maybe even February to get started. What works best for you?

We have three bags left:

The Everything Wristlet. Check out Sourkraut's review over at Langes Fädchen, Faules Mädchen.

IMGP0122

The Miss Maven Ruffled Handbag.

IMGP0123

IMGP0124

The Take Flight Handbag/Shoulder Bag. Be sure to check out Sara's review of the pattern over at Sew Sweetness!

I'm sorry if it's disappointing to any of you to put off the rest of the Sew Along, but I'm hoping you can understand. I'm definitely looking forward to getting started again, and hopefully if things go well, I'll have time to work on the bags so I'll be ahead & ready for questions!

Until next time...

  1. You must be reading my mind Bree! I was just thinking this morning that I probably wouldn't get a chance to finish the last three bags this year! Perfectly fine with me!

  3. Oh I can definitely wait! I was having a bit of an 'oh crap' moment looking at my pre-Christmas to-do list...

  5. Bree, I've already missed the last 2 due to my sewing for my craft markets. This is great news.

  6. Even though I cleverly worked ahead in the book so I could be prepared in advance for the clutch I am with you on this idea. I've already fallen behind, especially as the bags have gotten more and more complex, so taking a break until the new year works just fine for me. I love the shape and design of the Take Flight Bag but just reading the lengthy instructions tired me out so much I had to take a nap. Oh, and thanks for the reminder that I need to get started on my Christmas presents. I guess it's that time of year already.

  9. I just finished my Blossom Handbag and found your great sew along. Can I still hop on? I want to "wish" the book for Christmas and then I can sew the other bags. Can I choose any of the three left bags to participate of is there a certain order for the remaining three bags?
    Best wishes

  10. I am late getting here but *whew* I do love the plan to wait until the first of the year for the last three bags. That works beautifully for me.
I'm probably only going to do the Miss Maven bag. But I need the motivation of the group to keep me moving. :-) This sew along has been very invigorating for me. Thank you!!!

  11. So glad you decided to take a break from the sew along and are starting up again after the holidays. I made the first few items and then got far too busy with life. I'm looking forward to resuming this project in the new year. Thanks!

  13. Hi,
I wonder if there are any news on the sew along. I finished my Take Flight Handbag and am currently working on the Miss Maven Ruffled Handbag. I would love to see the others bags.

Thank you for your comments, I appreciate each & every one I get. I do try to respond to most (if not all) comments, but that's hard to do if you don't have an e-mail in your profile! :)
