I was thinking about the Sew Along the other day, and was wondering something - would anybody be terribly heartbroken if we wait to finish up the last three bags after the first of the year? I know a lot of people got busy & couldn't participate over the summer, and I'm sure the coming months will be even busier! Many of you are starting your Christmas crafting & shopping already (personally I don't even want to think about it yet!), and unless you're planning on making one for a gift, you probably have other things to do with your time. Obviously you can still make the bags now & link up when we pick up again.
I'm thinking about waiting until January or maybe even February to get started. What works best for you?

I'm sorry if it's disappointing to any of you to put off the rest of the Sew Along, but I'm hoping you can understand. I'm definitely looking forward to getting started again, and hopefully if things go well, I'll have time to work on the bags so I'll be ahead & ready for questions!
Okay, so technically there's no party, I told Cooper there's no crying allowed today, and it's barely even still my birthday. :) But this year has been leaps & bounds better than last year. Most of you probably weren't around at this time last year, or probably don't remember, but hubby's uncle was in a terrible farming accident on this day last year. I couldn't be happier to be able to tell you that we got to see him dance at not one, but two weddings in September & he has made an amazing recovery that we are all beyond thankful for.
So like I said last year, hug your loved ones a bit tighter tonight. This will never be bad advice.
And yes, that's the cupcake from last year, which was only recently moved from the dining room table to the China hutch.
Here's a little something I put together over the course of a few naps this afternoon. There are probably 100 other things I should have been doing, but it was really nice to just sit & sew for a while.
Isn't it cute?! It's relatively easy, and I can definitely see more of these in my future.
I'm not 100% sure how true to size it is compared to the pattern because we have no ink in our printer, so I traced the pattern from my netbook screen. I love that there is only one pattern piece, and only four pieces to cut out (including the interfacing)! If you used a decor weight fabric, you could probably skip a piece of interfacing.
Unfortunately, I haven't much time for sewing, but I have gotten a few things done over the past few weeks.
One thing I haven't gotten to is Cooper's quilt (it's weird not calling it Goose's Quilt!), so it's still sitting with just a few of the over 600 circles quilted.
I've gotten a few things made for myself that make this mommy life a little easier. One is this padded piece for the car seat handle. It's basically just a mini quilt (think mug rug size), but I used four layers of batting.
The shape looks all funny now, but that's because it's been wrapped around the seat handle for a month.
I bound it with ribbon I had on hand, which worked pretty well. I just wrapped it around the edge & sewed both sides down at once. The top side looks pretty nice, but I got in a hurry towards the end & it got messed up a bit on the back side.
I did manage to finish up a nursing cover as well, using the same green fabric.
I also finally managed to finish up my August blocks for the String Me Along Bee. They were much easier than I expected, so I feel even worse about putting them off so long.
Now I'm working on September's block for Sharon. She asked for something made with half square triangles. I've gotten the triangles all sewn together, now I just have to figure out how I want to put it all together.
I'm also still working on a crochet blanket, but I haven't had much time for it lately. One of these days I need to get a picture of it!

Hi everyone! Sara here, checking in for the Style Stitches Sew Along! How are the Blossom Bags coming?? I've seen several of them popping up on Flickr in the past week, including this version from Katy. I love the contrasting straps!
I've been using my bag for a couple of weeks now, and I must not have done a good job tacking the dividers to the side of the bag, because they've already come undone on one side. Oops! I haven't had time to sew them back in, so for now I've been adjusting the sides every time I open and close the bag. I remember having quite a difficult time tacking them in the first place, and I know it's due to the bulk of the bag (plus I did use corduroy for my interior, so heavy+).
