I'll be short & sweet again this week!
Started: Nothing new.
In Progress: June block for the String Me Along bee. I'm still hoping to do some sort of variation on the circle of geese, but haven't decided yet. I do have pieces cut out for my second practice block, but no work yet on the official block.
Goose's quilt. I forgot to take pictures when I had the rows all laid out, but now I've got two seams left until the top is all put together! I'm getting more & more excited about this, but now I need to decide how I want to do the back. I have this half yard bundle to work with:
My original plan was to do 12" squares on the back of everything except the blue dots, then use the blue dots to make about a 3" border around the whole thing. Last night I was thinking maybe I just want to do wide stripes on the back. I plan to hand quilt it with random circles all over. So which do you think, stripes or squares? Here's the front again, in case you've forgotten:
No progress on the crochet blanket or Christmas gift. Blah.
Completed: Nothing new.
Make sure you head over to Freshly Pieced to see what everybody else has been up to this week.
Until next time...
Oh, I love Goose's quilt top!!! As for the back, I like simple squares, but simple strips sounds cool too. I'm guessing, though, that the squares might show off the hand-quilting a bit more. Good luck choosing!
ReplyDeleteI like wide stripes :) They'll give a nice design contrasting balance to the little squares on the front.
ReplyDeleteOhhh I love Gooses quilt top! I'm torn, I think either choice for the back is an awesome one, I am partial to wide stripes, but I think squares would work well also! (sorry I know that was absolutely no help to you!!) Can't wait to see what you choose :-)
ReplyDeletelovin' Goose's quilt top!
ReplyDeleteI'm partial to stripes for the backing.
I like the squares idea to mirror the pattern on the front on a bigger scale. ... love this quilt, so adorable for a little boy :)
ReplyDeleteLike the idea of wide stripes since the front is fairly busy with squares. LOVE the idea of quilting it with circles! I love going a little bit against the design!
ReplyDeleteI love the goose block. For the backing of the squares quilt, big strips would be nice to show off the circles you plan to quilt.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be a pain and say both! Could you have large squares at the bottom or top and bottom and large stripes in the remaining space?
ReplyDeleteOooh, I vote for wide stripes! That would be awesome! The quilt top looks a-MAZE-ing, BTW.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up to WIP Wednesday. : )
